The shift in trends seems to be overpowering the look that we were used to.

Thin eyebrows are making a comeback so you might want to consider a thing or two before you go in for your micro blading, threading or make-up appointment.

Gen-Z tends to be getting nostalgic with the thin eyebrows trend coming back. There’s a current obsession with the 90’s style with make-up and clothing.

The pencil-thin eyebrow trend is back but with a modern twist. Celebrities are getting thinner with their brows and shifting from the bushy, dark brow that reigned supreme for the last two decades.

When it comes to brows, having the right shape can open and light up your face. The face shape is a big determinant when shaping or micro blading your brows.

An angular jaw (square face):

Softness is key. A rounder brow arch is needed to soften the corners of the face and create less sharp angles.” The end of the brow shouldn’t be too pointed, either, which would add another sharp line to this face shape.

Oval face:

The best shape is one that follows the brow’s natural line of the brow bone and is slightly thick, but well groomed however these have a bit more freedom when it comes to brow shape.

A heart-shaped face:

A strong arch and the correct thickness work best because they are not too rounded, which would make the face look fuller.

Round face (one that is as long as possible):

The wider the brow, the more surface it covers, making the face appear more narrow.

A lifted, angled arch that should be correctly aligned with the brow bone.

Elongated face:

A straight or flat brow complements an elongated face.

It’s also important to take your features into mind when shaping the brow. Eyes are a big determinant of the eyebrow shape.

Smaller eyes:

Choose a thinner brow that isn’t very dark in colour,” This will open the eyes.”

Wide-set eyes :

Leave as much hair as possible at the beginning of the brows in between the eyes,” Wide-set eyes will appear closer together. Also, make sure the eyebrow is not too short length create the same illusion.”

Close-set eyes:

Create a little distance between the brows without overdoing it. “Create a little lift by tweezing brows to create an upward direction on the outer edges,”  “And be sure the shape is a little thinner on the outside edges to give the illusion of width.”

When micro blading or filling out your brows, the colour does not have to be an exact match to your hair, but it should come within two shades (lighter or darker).

And unless you change your hair colour dramatically, it’s not necessary to dye your brows, makeup can do wonders to lighten or darken them.

If you’re unsure where your brow should begin, you can always try the pencil trick: hold an eyeliner pencil vertically next to your nostril and where it lands on your forehead is the point.

Micro blading is picking up pretty fast in Uganda and having an idea of what to consider will help you get the best results.
